The fire on Main Street started around 1 a.m. The Red Cross was on the scene by 3 a.m., spokeswoman Diane Concannon told Daily Voice.

The Red Cross provided temporary places to stay and other needs for 10 families -- totaling 53 people, Concannon said.

The families escaped the frigid cold quickly thanks to the help of Paterson police, she said.
